Pete Morton
swarthmoor Harbourtown (HARCD 044)
Pete has named this CD after a small village, which has a quiet significance
for him. The first recordings of these songs took place in the conference
centre there. Pete is of course known for his very popular 'Another Train'.
This CD has him singing ii of his own songs with just his own guitar accompaniment.
It is thus a test for both the listener and the performer (who has to
maintain consistency and variety).
The CD is rather serious in tone and topics he covers include the Middle
East conflict, oil, nature and politics. Although some of the ideas are
good (for instance comparing countries to naughty boys) I found the songs
downbeat and often obscure.
