Tiger Moth
Mothballs Plus WEBE 9043
Tiger Moth was an electric ceilidh band formed in 1983 round melodeon
pioneer Rod Stradling. They folded in the summer of 1989 and this is their
compilation CD 'Mothballs', (released some years back in the USA), with
fresh packaging and extra tracks.
Marking the 20th anniversary of their first album, they are doing a limited
number of dates in summer 2004 and will feature most of the original members.
The line-up is Rod Stradling (melodeons), Jon Moore (guitars), Chris Coe
(hammered dulcimer), Maggie Holland (bass), Ian Anderson (slide guitar),
Ben Mandelson (bouzouki), Fran Wade (fiddle) and drummer/percussionist
Martin Brinsford. Their caller will be Gordon Potts.
Although they were heavily influenced by World Music, their primary resource
was traditional English music. 'The Sloe' becomes 'Sloe Benga' and 'Jenny
Lind Polka' is renamed 'Gone with the Lind'.
