Tex Mex Flaco Jiminez etc Arc music EIJCD 1787 Another interesting CD from Arc. A sampler of 17 Tex Mex tunes and songs from 14 different artists. Tex Mex is the music of the Texas Mexican border people. The songs are sung in Spanish and the featured instrument is the diatonic accordion (melodeon) played with a lot of double notes. The most famous exponent is of course Waco Jiminez with his Hohner Corona. The material varies from the pop influenced Freddy Fender to the polkas
of Eva Ybarranad Mingo Saldivar. Ivan North. |
